Peter Nieforth

Chief Executive Officer & Co-FounderPeter Nieforth - Vitrium Systems CEO

Peter Nieforth’s aptitude for raising capital and securing financing, along with his passion for software innovation has combined to successfully establish Vitrium Systems Inc. Vitrium Systems is a leading software developer of “Smart Document Technology” for portable document format (PDF) files. Under Mr. Nieforth’s guidance since 2007, Vitrium has successfully created a marketplace need for knowledge about the use of PDF documents and the value of their content. The company’s strategic focus is to expand smart document technology, changing previously static files into dynamic and useful tools for a limitless variety of applications.

In the last year and a half, Mr. Nieforth has seen a huge growth in revenues and an exponential expansion of Vitrium’s customer base. In 2008, Vitrium’s product, Docmetrics, was named to the Gartner Research list of Cool Vendors in CRM Marketing and Analytics, establishing Vitrium as a leading vendor of innovative marketing technology.

Before taking over as CEO, Mr. Nieforth was Vitrium’s CFO and Director of Sales. With extensive experience as an investor and financial specialist, he was Director of Investment at Loreto Bay Company, an Investment Specialist for BMO Bank of Montreal, and a Financial Advisor with Merrill Lynch. Mr. Nieforth also serves on the board of directors and audit committee of the publically listed Knightswood Financial.

Peter Nieforth studied at Acadia University with a focus in political science. He has also studied with the Canadian Securities Institute, successfully completing several securities, investment, and portfolio management courses.

Terry Coatta

Chief Technology OfficerTerry Coatta - Vitrium Systems CTO

In 2007, Terry Coatta assumed the position of Chief Technology Officer for Vitrium Systems Inc., and has been instrumental in the development and release of three of Vitrium’s products. Dr. Coatta is primarily responsible for the strategic focus and direction of Vitrium’s technology, software development and evaluation, and management of the software development group. His expertise in software architecture and process development has successfully enabled him to identify technological trends that can be effectively applied to Vitrium’s products. Under Dr. Coatta’s guidance, Vitrium’s software development group produces innovative software that is delivered on-time and on-budget to its customers.

Dr. Coatta has extensive experience with entrepreneurial software companies. Prior to joining Vitrium, he was a founding partner in Network Software Group Inc. (acquired by Open Text Corporation, 1996). Dr. Coatta was also Director of Software Development at GPS Industries Inc.

In addition to his professional duties, Dr. Coatta has published several works, most recently The (not so) Hidden Computer and Traipsing through the QA tools desert, both published in ACM Queue Magazine. He also serves on the ACM Professions Board and Queue Magazine Editorial Board.

Terry Coatta received his Ph.D. in computer science from the University of British Columbia.

Stuart Sim

Director of Sales & MarketingStuart Sim

As Vitrium’s Director of Sales and Marketing, Stuart Sim has brought his expertise in sales strategy, sales execution and sales team management to the company. Specializing in high-tech software sales for the last twelve years, Mr. Sim has an excellent track record with expanding and growing both markets and sales for new technology products.

Mr. Sim is responsible for developing, innovating and executing the overall sales strategy for Vitrium Systems.  Prior to joining Vitrium, Mr. Sim was the Director of Sales at Talent Technology Corp. and Audiosmartcard, as well as the District Channel Manager at Maximizer Software Inc.

Mr. Sim’s ability to develop and manage Vitrium’s sales process to drive business through aggressive sales initiatives that deliver revenue growth, penetrate markets and capitalize on opportunity will contribute greatly to Vitrium’s overall success.

Stuart Sim attended Bishop’s University in Lennoxville , Quebec .

Alex Cann

Alex Cann

Director of Finance & Operations

Since first starting at Vitrium Systems Inc. in December 2007 as Director of Finance and Operations, Alex Cann has been responsible for a wide range of key company functions, including human resource and operations management, all cost and budget analyses for projects, corporate administration and filings, and financial reporting.

Previous to joining Vitrium, Mr. Cann launched his own business and financial consulting company, Cann Consult, and has brought his experience and vital skill set to improve Vitrium’s financial, accounting, and human resource management processes. As an in-house, full-cycle accountant for various organizations, Mr. Cann has expertise in developing and managing a variety of corporate accounting and finance systems.

Alex Cann graduated from the University College of Cape Breton in Nova Scotia, with a Business Accounting Co-op Diploma.


Grant Burnard

Manager of Professional ServicesGrant Burnard

As Vitrium System Inc.’s Professional Services Manager, Grant Burnard is responsible for all Enterprise customer relations and tier-2 support. Since Enterprise customers can either integrate Vitrium products into existing IT systems using their own resources, or allow Vitrium staff to do so based on each client’s specific requirements, it is paramount that this process goes smoothly for them. Mr. Burnard successfully delivers Vitrium’s high-quality service software on budget and on schedule for each and every Enterprise customer, effectively satisfying the clientele base.

Since he started in 2005, Mr. Burnard has been instrumental in helping Vitrium expand its product offering, first as Director of Development and now as Manager of Professional Services. Previously as Director of Development, Mr. Burnard was responsible for the research and development of emerging and applicable technologies, as well as managing the company’s product development and support teams. Bringing his experience as a java developer for the Certified General Accountants Association of British Columbia, Mr. Burnard’s expertise with software development and project management has garnered Vitrium several industry awards and nominations since he began.

Grant Burnard holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in computer science from Simon Fraser University.
