Companies including International Code Council, Hartfield Management, NetworkWorld and the University of Phoenix select Vitrium Systems’ unique PDF rights management platform

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Canada — April 20, 2007. Vitrium Systems, developer of the protectedpdf™ product suite, today announced that notable clients from a broad range of industries have successfully adopted protectedpdf, the company’s Digital Rights Management technology for PDF documents.

Businesses that have benefited from leveraging version two of the protectedpdf software engine include International Code Council, Hartfield Management, The Binary Solution, International Data Corporation’s NetworkWorld and Apollo Group’s University of Phoenix.

International Code Council

The International Code Council (ICC) is a not-for-profit association dedicated to fire prevention and building safety. ICC develops the codes used in residential, commercial and public building construction in many US cities and states. Vitrium was initially contacted by the association in March 2006. ICC was planning to release 30,000 CD-ROMS containing its most popular codes and was actively investigating options to protect this content from unauthorized reproduction. After reviewing competing technologies, the association decided to adopt protectedpdf.

Rick Carroll, Manager of Electronic Media at ICC commented: “Vitrium offered us exactly what we were looking for – a DRM solution that could be customized to our needs and integrated into our existing business processes.” Margaret Leddin, ICC’s Vice President of Publishing and Multimedia added: “The staff is great – easy to work with, professional and very responsive to our needs. The support has been phenomenal and we’ve had access to all levels of the company, so our immediate needs have always been met.”

Hartfield Management

Hartfield Management is a registered Commodity Trading Advisor and publisher of The Hightower Report which provides daily market analysis and forecasting reports. With subscribers in 45 countries, The Hightower Report is one of the world’s most widely read commodity wires. Hartfield is currently issuing its documents as protectedpdf files that auto-unlock. This allows Hartfield to measure document distribution and access, without impacting the user experience.

Narayan Sainaney, Vitrium’s President and Chief Technical Officer, said: “We’re very pleased to be working with such high-caliber companies.  We are pleased to offer them a great deal of value in terms of document control and analytics technology.  In addition, we’ve received a lot of great feedback from our customers that has helped us steer Vitrium on a business and technology course that we’re very excited about.”
